Bleach Septic System

BLEACH: Chlorine bleach should not be used. Oxygen bleaches are recommended. Oxygen bleaches can be used in any form, liquid, powder, or pellets.

Most laundry detergents contain sodium perborate or bleach which releases boron as it breaks down. Boron has a bactericidal effect which in excessive quantities could damage your treatment plant so that it is wise to keep bleach levels to a minimum.
